Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Safia Al Suhail Tuesday said her country was keen on removing impediments that Jordanian exports face in accessing Iraqi markets.

She told Petra that the slow progress in the implementation of the Iraqi council of ministers decision on exempting Jordanian commodities from customs fees was due to the recent parliamentary elections in her country which the government was preparing for.

She also pointed out delays of the Iraqi customs in implementing the decision on the list of commodities which might pose a risk to the domestic product as both countries are obliged to protect their national products.

The envoy noted a meeting which is expected to take place soon and would bring together Transport Minister Walid Masri and relevant Iraqi ministries to look into ways to facilitate the flow of Jordanian exports to the neighboring Arab country.

Iraq officially exempted some 540 Jordanian commodities supplied to the Iraqi market from customs duties earlier this year in order to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.
