Senate committee meets IMF mission Chief

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Senate's Financial and Economic Committee on Thursday met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission chief to Jordan, Martin Cerisola.

The committee, chaired by Senator Umayya Touqan, was briefed about the IMF's three-year financial reform program agreement with Jordan which ends in 2019.

Touqan said that tackling the economic challenges facing the Kingdom is at the forefront of the agenda of the financial reform program.

On his part, the IMF mission chief, elaborated on the IMF's view about Jordan's actions in moving ahead with the financial reform program.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the most prominent aspects of the Income Tax Law and its impact on the national economy, including economic growth and investment which impact the lives of citizens.

During a recent Cabinet session, the government approved a draft law amending the Income Tax Law No. 34 of 2014.
