Safadi, Saudi counterpart discuss regional developments

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Saudi Foreign Minister Adil Al-Jubeir held talks on efforts to support Palestinian brothers as well as regional developments and means of cementing Jordanian-Saudi ties.

The two ministers discussed ways and means of cooperation and coordination to implement the resolutions of an extraordinary meeting of Arab League foreign ministers held on Thursday, the previous Arab League resolutions and the decisions of the Islamic summit in Istanbul yesterday to limit the repercussions of the United States' decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem, which was condemned by world nations and all Arab and Islamic countries as a breach of the international law and a step that has no legal effect.

The Islamic ministers called for an international investigation into the massacre committed by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza, which left over 60 Palestinians dead and thousands injured.

During their meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the extraordinary Islamic summit in Istanbul, Safadi and Jubeir also agreed to continue coordination with brothers and to work with the international community to break the stalemate in efforts to break the current stalemate and resolve the conflict on the basis of the two-state solution that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ministers said that Jordan and Saudi Arabia are keen on developing the strategic relations between the two brotherly countries in all fields in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
