King meets with Arab leaders, officials on sidelines of Arab Summit

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS -His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday held separate meetings with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord Fayez al-Sarraj and Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri for a discussion on ties and regional developments.

The King's meeting with the Lebanese President focused on bilateral relations between Jordan and Lebanon and means of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields, in addition to current developments in the Middle East.

The meeting also discussed Lebanese issues and the results of the recent Rome and Paris conferences, which aimed at supporting Lebanon.

The King affirmed Jordan's full support for Lebanon in its efforts to preserve its national unity, sovereignty, security and stability. His Majesty expressed wishes for successful parliamentary elections in Lebanon, scheduled for next month.

The King and the Lebanese president also discussed burdens Jordan and Lebanon are bearing due to the influx of Syrian refugees, stressing the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the host countries to enable them to continue providing relief and humanitarian services to the refugees.

The meeting also touched upon regional crises and the need to intensify efforts to reach political solutions to restore security and stability.

The King also met with Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord Fayez al-Sarraj and discussed mechanisms of promoting relations between the two countries in various fields.

During the meeting, King Abdullah stressed Jordan's keenness to provide all forms of support for efforts that aim at achieving security and stability in Libya and building Libyan institutions.

His Majesty also met with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri and discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region. King Abdullah underlined the importance of enhancing the Jordanian-Lebanese cooperation, especially in the economic and trade fields.
