AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Investment Affairs, and Jordan Investment Commission (JIC) President, Muhannad Shehadeh, said the government's special committee on investors approved granting the Jordanian nationality to an Iraqi investor.

In a statement issued on Monday, Shehadeh said the approval came after the investor had fulfilled all rules and regulations related to the granting of the nationality through deposit and purchasing of treasury bills at the Central Bank of Jordan.

The number of applications submitted to the JIC for obtaining Jordanian nationality or permanent residency stood at 56; 52 of which were for obtaining citizenship and the rest for obtaining permanent residency, Shehadeh added.

He noted that 34 of the submitted applications met all the requirements and they were referred to competent authorities for the necessary approvals.

He pointed out that applications submitted to JIC were in many sectors of investment representing the sectors of industry, tourism and agriculture.
