Hungarian universities accept 400 Jordanians students

AMMONNEWS - Prof. Adel Tweisi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research received today in his office Hungarian Ambassador in Amman, Mr. Csaba Czibere who presented him with the results of the Hungarian Government’s Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme for the academic year 2017-18.

Over the past months out of 1200 Jordanian applicants 400 students were selected by Hungarian universities to start their study programmes next September. 75 of them on bachelor, 219 master, 43 OTM , and 65 PhD levels.

The ambassador thanked Minister Tweisi for his ministry’s close cooperation in selecting and nominating applicants as well as facilitating some of the entry exams which took place in Jordan. He also expressed his appreciation for the support of many Jordanian partners from universities and organizations to high schools to promote the scholarship programme.

Hungary has more than 50 partner countries worldwide in the Stipendium Hungaricum programme, allocating 4680 places for the next academic year. Jordan is the largest beneficiary of it, with 400 scholarships a year. The programme offers free tution and medical insurance, as well as monthly allowances for lodging and living expenses.

Ambassador Czibere underlined: The hundreds of Jordanians already studying in Hungary under this programme are performing well and they enjoy their stay in different university towns of the country. With the 400 new arrivals from September they form one of the the fastest growing foreign student community in Hungary.
