Jordan condemns Israeli police', extremists' storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque yards

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan on Sunday condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif yards by large numbers of Israeli security forces and extremist groups and assaulting worshippers and closing the doors of Al-Qibli Mosque.

State Minister for Media Affairs Mohammad al-Momani said such provocative actions constitute a violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque / Haram al-Sharif, and threaten to inflame the passions of Muslims everywhere.

The minister added that Israel, as the occupying power in East Jerusalem, bears full responsibility for the safety of Al-Aqsa Mosque, worshipers and Awqaf cadres in accordance with its obligations under the international law and international humanitarian law.

Al-Momani, who is also the government spokesman, demanded Israel to immediately halt such provocative and irresponsible actions, which undermine efforts to reach a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees justice for the Palestinians and security for Israel.

He said that the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs had sent a letter of protest to the Israeli government, via the Israeli embassy in Amman, expressing condemnation and absolute rejection of the Israeli violations that took place this morning and demanding immediate cessation to such practices.
