PM: Gov't is keen to improve conditions of teachers

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Mulki said that the government is keen to improve living and social conditions of teachers in order to develop the education process and enhance the role of teachers and their status in society.

The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with Jordan Teachers Association (JTA) President Basil Freihat and members of the association, in the presence of Education Minister Omar Razzaz, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Maayteh and State Minister for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani.

Mulki voiced the government's readiness to deal seriously through dialogue, with the demands of the JTA, which he described as basic, noting that the government will study these demands to implement those that are possible.

He also instructed the Legislative and Opinion Bureau to accelerate discussing the Teachers Association Draft Law in order to present it to the Cabinet for discussion and then to the Lower House of Parliament.

The JTA President said the association's council seeks to develop the teaching profession and improve conditions of teachers, adding that council does not have any political role.
