At the meeting, the minister emphasized the importance of a political solution to Syria's crisis that would meets the aspirations of the Syrian people. During talks with a number of his counterparts, he also stressed that "There is no military solution to the crisis", and the need to press ahead for a political solution in accordance with Geneva Conventions and UN Security Council resolution No. 2254. "Our goal is to realize peace and to work effectively to find a peaceful solution that safeguards Syria's unity and ends the suffering of its people", said the minister. Safadi also met U.S Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, and discussed with him developments in Syria, in addition to bilateral ties. Also, he met with his UAE counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and discussed bilateral relations, latest developments in Syria, in addition to regional developments.

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, Tuesday, took part in a meeting on Syria hosted by Italy on the sidelines of the Group of Seven industrialized nations meetings.

At the meeting, the minister emphasized the importance of a political solution to Syria's crisis that would meets the aspirations of the Syrian people.
