Momani opens Arab summit media centre

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani on Wednesday, opened the media centre for the 28th Arab summit in the Grand East Hotel Dead Sea.

Momani said in a press conference that the center was fully ready for the event, noting that all media, logistical and diplomatic preparations have been taken.

He said that preliminary meetings for the summit will start tomorrow, adding that the most important meeting will be held on March 27 in preparation for the Arab leaders' meeting on March 29.

The minister added that 3 committee have worked on preparation for the summit over the past 4 months.

Momani said that the Palestinian issue will top the agenda of the Arab summit, adding that the presence of Arab leaders and the discussions over the Palestinian issue have great political importance.

On the Syrian crisis, the minister said that all Arab states agree on the need to end the suffering of the Syrian people but the Arab League's decision suspended Syria's membership.

Arab state, he added, also agree on the importance of supporting efforts of the Iraqi people to address security challenges, fight terrorism and extremism, and focus on national reconciliation to achieve security and stability in Iraq.

Momani voiced hope that the Arab summit will pave the way for addressing challenges facing the Arab nation, and providing the opportunity to Arab leaders to express their stances on Arab issues, mainly the Palestinian cause.

Earlier, director of the summit's media center and Director General of Jordan News Agency, Petra Faisal Al Shboul briefed Momani on preparations and media services that will be provided to media outlets to facilitate their mission.
