24 pilgrims injured in Maan traffic accident

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - At least 24 pilgrims, en route to Saudi Arabia to perform Umra (the lesser Muslim pilgrimage), were injured Wednesday dawn in a traffic accident near Maan, some 220 km south of Amman, a Civil Defence Department(CDD) source said.

Maan CDD Director Lt. Col. Salem Sarayrah said the accident occurred after two busses collided, near Maan while they were heading to Mecca in Saudi Arabia to perform the lesser Hajj.

One of the busses was carrying 48 pilgrims, while the other has no passengers, he added.

CDD cadres, rushed to the scene, took the injured to Maan Public hospital, who were listed in good conditions after they received necessary medical treatment.

All pilgrims left the hospital, except for six people, who are still receiving medical attention, he further explained.
