U-17 Women's teams begin arriving for tournament

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The local organising committee of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Jordan 2016 has stepped up final preparations to host the international football tournament, which will kick off on Friday with the participation of 16 teams.

The committee had put the final touches to the four stadia, where participating teams will use for training before and during the championship, as seven squads which arrived so far had already begun training awaiting the arrival of the rest of the teams. A training programme for the teams has been put in place.

The squads that had already arrived are: Venezuela, Brazil, Canada, England, Ghana, Cameron and Japan, and the other eight will be arriving in the coming days.

The local organising committee was also putting the final touches for the opening ceremony, which will feature Jordanian traditions and culture and also highlight the Kingdom's landmarks and tourist attractions.

The committee announced that the opening ceremony song will be performed by Jordanian singer Hussein Al Salman and Lebanese singer Carole Smaha.

FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup is the largest international sporting event Jordan will host.
