UN condemns Netanyahu’s statement on ‘Ethnic cleansing’

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for describing those who oppose the Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank as supporters of "ethnic cleansing".

In a statement issued by the UN chief, he said "I am disturbed by a recent statement by Israel’s Prime Minister portraying those who oppose settlement expansion as supporters of ethnic cleansing".

Ban said Netanyahu’s remarks were "unacceptable and outrageous," while stressing that the international community "universally views the expansion of settlements as an obstacle to peace."
