Hospital hit in Syria as UN warns of faltering talks

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A hospital in a rebel-held area of the Syrian city of Aleppo was destroyed after being hit by a direct air strike, medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres, which supported the hospital, said on its Twitter account on Thursday.

At least 14 patients and staff, including at least three doctors, were killed, MSF said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights earlier said at least 27 people were killed in the attack on the hospital.

According to the Associated Press, the Civil Defense has said that the dead included six hospital staff, including one of the few pediatricians. The volunteer group puts the total death toll at 30 while the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says at least 27 were killed.

MSF said in a series of tweets also emailed to the AP that at least 14 patients and staff were among those killed.

In other strikes on Thursday, at least 20 people killed in new air strikes on rebel-held parts of Aleppo, with the death toll likely to rise according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
