Interior Minister: decentralization requirements ready

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Interior Minister, Salameh Hammad, said that his ministry has completed all financial administrative, structural and training requirements needed to implement the decentralization project in various regions of the Kingdom.

In response to various inquiries of the media about the achievements of the ministry during the past year, Hammad said in a statement that Royal visions always seek a better future for Jordanians through comprehensive sustainable development and implementation of political, economic and social reforms .

He explained that the decentralization project seeks to determine the priorities and needs of the governorates, design development and investment plans and monitor the work of public entities and capitalism projects. It also aims to improve the services provided to citizens at the local level, as well as organize partnership between the public and private sectors to encourage investment.

One of the decentralization clauses includes electing governorate councils by the citizens to be added to a number of other political reforms, the minister added.

Such reforms are designed to ensure the participation of citizens in decision-making related to their future through the election of their representatives in all vested councils to achieve the aspired development and identify all forms of comprehensive development paths .

Based on the requirements of the public interest, the ministry of interior has been restructured through integrating, abolishing and establishing new directorates.

In line with the country's comprehensive anti-terrorism approach, he further added that the ministry has introduced an "Anti-Radicalism Directorate" tasked with following up on ministries’ and public agencies’ implementation of the 2014 policy document on combating extremism and violence.
