Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan has reiterated its support to the legitimate government in Yemen and called for the implementation of UN resolution for the return of stability, sovereignty and unity in the country.

Nasser Judeh, Jordanian Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs, and his Yemeni counterpart, Abdul Malek Mekhlafi, met for talks on Jordanian-Yemeni ties, according to Jordan News Agency, Petra. They discussed the security and humanitarian challenges in Yemen as well as Jordan’s key role in Yemen’s development process.

Judeh expressed hope that the political process in Yemen will be put on track based on the agreed principles, UN Security Council resolutions and the Gulf Initiative leading to a political process to end the crisis that started after the coup.

Judeh said Jordan, as a member of the Security Council in the past two years, had participated in drafting and endorsing the council’s resolution 2216 on Yemen, stressing the need to fully implement it “in a away to allow the return of Yemen’s stability, protect its territorial unity and stop the expansion of terrorist groups in the country”.

The Yemeni foreign minister briefed Judeh on the outcome of the Yemeni dialogue and the future of the Geneva peace talks as well as hindrances placed by the “coup leaders” to block any attempt to stabilise the country.
