AMMONNEWS -By Hanin Kreishan - By the name of liberty and dignity, the most powerful Army that is fighting on the behalf of other oppressed people in the entire world is facing a big scandal that hit its ironic shield. Sexual harassment and sexual assault cases in the U.S. military are returned back to surface especially after what had happened in the American-Iraqi & Afghanistan wars’ sexual harassment and sexual assault scandals with no real American governmental action to improve the situation.

Today, Senator Gillibrand’s law Military Justice Improvement Act (MJIA), which was defeated in front of Senator McCaskill’s Victim’s Protection Act on the floor of the Congress on March, 2014, has proven its efficiency in improving the U.S. military servicewomen sexual harassment and sexual assault situations; to get more objectivity in the military trails to help the victims who survived to get a decent and fair trails in order to decrease victims’ sexual harassment and sexual assault cases figures.

Although, the global is experiencing rapid dynamic changes in all life sectors; social, technological, economical, and political (STEP), but violence and terror against women have increased rapidly based on the masculine sex-based discrimination and the huge gap of the misunderstanding about women lives role.

Women who are experienced sexual assault and sexual harassment are facing a serious horror destiny. Starting with post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD that may lead to deep depression which may lead to put an end to the victims’ suffering lives by committed a suicide.

A true example published within an article of “The Women’s War” in The New York Times Magazine, in 2007 talked about women who experienced sexual harassment from their commanders within war times in the Middle East starting with the Kuwait invasion and ending with the Iraq War. Veteran women expressed their suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, or P.T.S.D., a highly debilitating condition brought on by an abnormal amount of stress. Based on the data bases for all the 50 states in 2005 and found that there were at least 6,256 cases of suicide among those who had served in the armed forces. And according to military records, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have the highest rate of suicides. Veterans in the range of 20 and 24 years old are the most frequent victims. The Department of Defense has revealed that an average of 18 veterans a day from all wars is committing suicide, including one veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan every 36 hours. Multiple deployments and redeployments of personal who are suffering from PTSD are among the many factors causing this high rate.

Today, the Democratic President Barak Obama’s strategy toward the Middle-East conflicts is less military interfered than his counterparts the Republican ones as the Former President Bush, but that never stopped such harassments and assaults to be happened within the U.S. military ranks. Although they have been decreased since military services and duties are still within the micro levels and not involve, that much, within the foreign macro levels. But for how long?

These days, U.S. is preparing for the U.S. Presidential elections on November, 2015, rapid challenges are facing those who are in service, veterans who may involve sooner or later in a war that may not be their war, servicewomen who may be faced and experienced not only the wars’ bad situations, but also sexual assault and sexual harassment situations from both sides of enemies and/ or those who are served with; commanders, colleagues..etc. and having very little chances and might be impossible ones to run away or to be helped. Especially in these days, the Middle-East is facing the most horrified conflict war against terrorism, which reflects badly on life aspect for the women role to become more complicated and ignored. Facing a mysterious destiny, woman, children, and the old people are praying for the liberty and having their dreams to become true again by those American military champions.

When the questions rise again; until when should the U.S. military servicewomen keep afraid to travel and fight board with her other masculine servicemen “brothers”? Until when should the women role be understood and be able to get their rights in their achievements equally? When those fights by the name of liberty should be stopped and ended? Is not now the good time to admit the women role in life, since the issues of terror against women are the basic foundation in our recent global war against backwardness and terrorism?

Let’s put hand in hand toward women respect and dignity especially for those who give their own lives, literally, to give others lives liberty. Let’s support what lead for their dignity and respect. Those women who are; the mothers that help to grow up the man to be on what he is today, the teachers who taught and embedded that man principles and knowledge to build his future, and wives who give their most beautiful moments to that husband. All of that are not enough to respect the women existence? Women are the lives’ seeds that give the strength and taste to victory in all the meanings. Stop humiliating women … Please.
