New heatwave to climax on Sunday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A new heatwave is expected to blast the Kingdom as of today, pushing temperatures beyond their seasonal average, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.

The weather will remain hot across the kingdom with the heat and humidity expected to climax on Sunday and Monday. The southern Red Sea port city of Aqaba is set to see more scorching weather, with degrees expected to cross the 40 degrees barrier, hitting 43 degrees Celsius.

The weather will be relatively hot in the hilly areas, with southwesterly to northwesterly moderate winds.

Authorities warn of sunstrokes and advise citizens to avoid direct exposure to sunshine especially at peak hours.

Maximum temperatures in Amman are expected to hit 37 degrees Celsius, while temperatures are expected to hit 24 at night.
