UK supports Jordan with $110 million to address Syrian refugees crisis

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Britain's Minister of State for International Development Desmond Swayne has announced an additional $110 million support to Jordan's response plan to deal with Syrian crisis, raising the total number of UK support to Jordan since the beginning of Syrian crisis to $340 million.

During a meeting with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, the UK official stressed the strong ties between Jordan and the UK, voicing his country's readiness to support Jordan in addressing the Syrian refugee crisis.

He also praised Jordan's role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in hosting a large number of Syrian refugees.

The two officials also discussed scopes of bilateral cooperation, especially in various development-related areas, noting the important outcome of His Majesty King Abdullah II's recent visit to the UK.

Fakhoury spoke about the Syrian refugees crisis and the massive burden placed on the Jordanian economy and infrastructure as a result of hosting a massive influx of Syrian refugees on its territory, calling on the world community to bear its responsibility in helping Jordan continue its humanitarian mission .
