A Story of Success in a Jordanian Flavour

AMMONNEWS -By Sam Adam - Not very often you meet a man who restores your faith in the goodness of the human race and in the chivalry of honourable Arabs, who stands by your side and helps you regardless of your nationality, religion, race or color. In these dark times, where kind-hearted people are seen as being naive by others, where help is exclusive to those who have someone in a high position, where life itself lost its flavour and darkness prevailed, hope and morality can be found in the form of a man; a Jordanian one. Hence, I take it upon myself to pay tribute to this man who has never failed me, whose heart is big enough for all people. His story of success is inspirational to all who have ambitions.

His name is Abdel Rahman Al-takhaineh, born in Karak on 25th August 1984. Abdel's life has been turned upside down when his father passed away in 1988. He and his family were left alone to fend for themselves in a cruel world. He carried a heavy responsibility from a very young age, and he did it marvelously. Despite his humble origins, his dreams and ambitions still flared like a torch, he has always dreamed about becoming a successful man, a PhD holder and a public figure. His biggest dream is to inspire people to whom life has not been fair. He wants to be a role model to every man and woman who believe that attaining dreams and achieving goals are possible as long as one has the necessary perseverance and determination. He also wants to others that what one man can do, another can do. He paved the way to his dreams despite all the obstacles in his path, whether financial or social. After completing his BA at Mu'tah University, he worked for two years in Karak and saved enough money to go to the UK to do his MA in Applied Linguistics at the University of Salford. He successfully finished his MA with Merit and went back to Jordan. However, his dream has not stopped there; he applied to jobs in the UAE and was able to get one in Al-Ain, where he worked as the Head of the English Department at Future International Academy. Although his life in Al-Ain was very comfortable and financially profitable, he has never deviated from his purpose. As soon as he saved enough money, he applied to a PhD program in the UK and was accepted.

Currently, he is a PhD candidate in Linguistics at Newcastle University, England. Being in another country has not stopped him from spreading his vision and talking about his beloved Jordan whenever he got the chance. The Dean of the school detected his aptitude for leadership and appointed him as a representative of the School of English Literature, Languages & Linguistics. He takes this responsibility very seriously; he extends his hand to everyone who needs help and support. I came to him seeking his help and he never hesitated to offer it. He offered me his money, his house, and his support whenever I needed them. I asked him once why do you do that even though you do not know me very well. He said: "I do it because I don't want chivalry to die in the hearts of men".

This man's limit is the sky; I am completely sure that he will graduate with flying colours and continue his path of success and glory. I can never repay him for what he has done for me; these words seem vacuous in the face of this honorable Jordanian man. I envy Jordan of having him and I hope they realize how lucky they are. I wish Abdel every happiness and success, and I hope I can go to Jordan one day to try this 'Karaki Mansaf' he told me about.
