Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Royal Jordanian yesterday welcomed its fifth 787 aircraft, thus completing the assimilation of the first group of its 787 order.

The airline received the fourth 787 on Nov. 20, while it started the introduction of this model since last August, under the airline's strategic plan to renew its long-haul fleet.

Royal Jordanian's acting President/CEO Captain Haitham Misto said that the 787s that RJ acquired are a new, advanced generation of the 787. The five new airliners are working on RJ's medium- and long-range routes, replacing the airline's four Airbus 340s and one Airbus 330.

Misto added that the airline will resume receiving the rest of the ordered Dreamliners starting with 2016 and throughout the following few years. This milestone will help RJ meet its operational needs and leverage the passengers' experience, particularly when they fly on long-haul flights. The state-of-the-art features and high specifications of the 787s are bound to offer higher levels of comfort and luxury.
He expressed pride in the technical and managerial competency of the RJ staff that made the Dreamliners successfully and smoothly join the fleet, especially that RJ received a request from Boeing to give its experience gained during the delivery of its 787s to an international airline, be it in training pilots and crew members or in regard to the engineering procedures and systems of these aircraft.

He stressed that the 787 is currently the most technologically advanced and efficient airplane in the aviation industry; airlines are racing to acquire this type of aircraft because of its exceptional technical and service specifications.

Marty Bentrott, vice president for Sales, Middle East, Russia and Central Asia, Boeing Commercial Airplanes said: "The addition of the 787 Dreamliner to Royal Jordanian's fleet will mean not only an enhanced travel experience for its passengers but will translate into significant cost savings for the airline. This is validated by the fact that not only does the 787 have a strong customer base in the Middle East but one that is increasing worldwide. We are proud of our relationship with Royal Jordanian and look forward to continuing this partnership well into the future."

Boeing indicated that it has an order of 1,050 Dreamliners to be delivered to more than 60 global airlines by the end of 2020, an unprecedented number for a manufacturer of any type of aircraft.

The Dreamliners have improved ventilation and humidity levels onboard, which takes the travel experience to a new level, offering passengers more comfort.

The aircraft is built of carbon-fiber composite materials and has a powerful electrical system to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency. It consumes 20 per cent less fuel than today's similarly sized airplanes, enabling it to offer an exclusive eco-friendly performance.

The new planes also enable airlines to increase their cargo revenues by providing about 20 per cent to 30 per cent more cargo capacity than the current airplanes of the same size.
