King hold stalks with Japanese prime minister

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on bilateral cooperation in various fields as well as regional and international issues.

During the talks, which were attended by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein and Prince Ghazi Bin Mohammad, the King’s Advisor the King highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Japan, mainly in the economic, investment and development fields.

His Majesty voiced appreciation for Japan’s continued support to the Kingdom, which helps the Kingdom to implement major projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development in the region, mainly in energy, transport and water sectors. He also highly valued Japan’s role and its efforts to bring about prosperity for the peoples of the Middle East.

Talks which were attended by senior officials form both sides also dealt with regional and international issues as well as efforts to address current challenges including the fight against terrorism and extremism.

On the challenges facing the region due to extremist ideologies as well as terrorist organizations that threaten world peace and security, His Majesty stressed the need to maintain coordination among all regional and international parties to confront these ideologies that are not related to religion in any way.

His Majesty said that Jordan is continuing its efforts and coordination with all parties to combat terrorism and terrorists and preserve security and stability in the region.

Discussions also covered efforts to achieve peace based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions, leading to the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state on the Palestinian national soil.

King Abdullah pointed to threats facing Jerusalem and its holy sites due to the recent Israeli provocative actions and cautioned against their impact on efforts to achieve peace, security and stability in the region.

On the Syrian crisis, the King reiterated the importance of arriving at a comprehensive political solution to the crisis, pointing in this regard to the burden shouldered by Jordan as a result of hosting Syrian refugees in the Kingdom despite its limited resources.

He urged the international community as well as Japan to support the Kingdom to enable it to continue its humanitarian role towards the refugees.

The Japanese prime minister voiced his country’s keenness to maintain coordination and consultations with Jordan that has strong ties with Japan.

He also praised Jordan’s moderate policies led by His Majesty that put practical solutions to various challenges facing the region.

The Japanese premier also hailed King Abdullah’s efforts to achieve peace and security at the world level and build a better future for the region’s peoples.

Abe stressed Japan’s keenness to support Jordan in implementing reform and developmental projects.

He also valued Japan’s role to protect holy sites in Jerusalem
