EU announces Cultural Exchange Activities in Jordan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The European Union delegation in Jordan announced on Monday its cultural exchange activities which will begin on August 30 and run until the end of October.

President of the EU National Institute for Culture (EUNIC) Cluster Jordan, Robin Rickard provided details of the European cultural and artistic activities in Jordan during the coming months at a press conference at the French Cultural Center.

The programme will commence on August 30 with an open air Family Event at the Zaha Cultural Center in Khalda, which will include activities for children and parents, such as painting, music, clay sculptures and a surprise street performance by artists from Europe.

"Family Day celebrations are also planned on September 6 in the Khreibt al Souq area and on September 13 in Jebal Luweibdeh," he said.

These events will be followed by a series of activities between September 15th and 25th, involving students of 10 secondary schools in Jordan and culminating with the main event celebrating the yearly European Day of Languages on the September 27 at the British Council, Goethe Institut, Institut Francais, Instituto Cervantes, Societa Dante Alighieri and the Greek Orthodox Church hall.

The European Film Festival will host this year a number of film screenings between September 2014 – March 2015 at several locations inAmman and elsewhere, and also in several universities in Jordan.

Furthermore, a series of public debates and cultural exchanges is also on the anvil that will contribute towards bringing the EU and Jordanian societies closer.

The programme is funded by the European Union and implemented by the EU National Institute for Culture (EUNIC) in Jordan whose members include: the British Council, Instituto Cervantes, Institut Francais, Goethe Institut, Embassy of Greece and Societa Dante Alighieri.
