Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Jordanian Foreign Ministry confirmed today that kidnapped ambassador Fawwaz Al-Eitan had not been released, and called upon the media to exercise caution when reporting on the case.

Media outlets should ensure the accuracy of their information, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, adding that the circulation of disinformation could affect the course of investigations.

There was no new information regarding Eitan, the spokesperson added.

Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Judeh, said yesterday that efforts to release the ambassador were ongoing. He added that the Jordanian authorities were working closely with their Libyan counterparts, with whom they were in constant contact.

Eitan was abducted by gunmen and his driver shot in the legs last week in central Tripoli. The kidnappers are reportedly demanding the release of a Libyan serving a life sentence in Jordan for a terrorism offence.
