Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Royal Jordanian (RJ) on Tuesday cancelled a flight to the Libyan capital Tripoli and said it is mulling suspension of flights to the North African country after the abduction this morning of Jordanian ambassador to Libya, Fawz al-Etan, by unidentified gunmen.

The national carrier said in a statement that it was closely monitoring the situation after the kidnapping and would take an appropriate decision on flights between the two countries.

It said contacts were underway with Libyan authorities to learn more about the incident, adding it would take a suitable decision on the flights between Amman and Tripoli, Benghazi and Misrata.

The airline, which currently operates 10 weekly flights to Tripoli, four to Benghazi and two to Misrata, urged passengers to and from Libya to call its communications centre at 06 510 0000 for inquiries about any change in flight schedules.
