Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra)His Majesty King Abdullah II on Thursday sent a cable to Pope Francis I congratulating him on his election as the new head of the Catholic Church.

The King wished the new pope success to maximize tolerance and coexistence values among followers of different religions, promote human rights, and defend peace, freedom, and justice.

In his cable, the king expressed pride over the strong historical ties between Jordan and the Vatican, stressing keenness to build upon the common ground between Islam and Christianity and promote dialogue among different cultures and nations.
