AMMONNEWS - 34 people were arrested in the riots and protests that erupted throughout the kingdom on Tuesday and Wednesday against price hikes, security sources said.

Sources at the Public Security Department (PSD) told Ammon News that out of arrested individuals, 24 were arrested in the capital Amman, 6 in the southern governorate of Tafileh, and 4 in Karak.

Police and security forces on Wednesday evening prevented protesters from reaching the Interior Ministry Circle (Jamal Abdul Nasser Square) in central Amman where popular and youth reform movements had planned to hold an open protest.

Ammon News reporter Mohammad Abu Hmaed reported from the Interior Ministry Circle that police arrested a number of activists in a campaign ahead of the planned protest.
