AMMONNEWS - Dozens of activists from youth and popular pro-reform movements held a sit in on Monday in front of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) headquarters demanding the release of 'opinion' political detainees, according to their expression.

The activists affirmed that they will boycott the parliamentary elections unless the 20 plus activists are released from prison.

Activists considered that the 'democracy' of elections must guarantee the freedom of expression and opinion, demanding that security authorities stop their campaign of arresting and detaining pro-reform activists.

IEC President Abdul Illah Khatib met with the protesters and promised to relay their demands to the concerned authorities.

Over 20 activists have been arrested and detained since July, a campaign that cracked down on vocal activists charged with anti-regime rhetoric.
