Ammon News - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday highlighted the important role played by the Senate to accomplish laws and legislation regulating political life.
"These legislation should lead to parliamentary elections before the end of the year and to a strong parliament that enjoys high credibility, truly represents the people and contributes to addressing all economic and social challenges in cooperation with all authorities," the King said during a meeting with Senate President Taher Masri, members of the permanent office and heads of committees.
"We are committed to holding parliamentary elections before year end and this requires collective work," he added, urging cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities to avoid any delay.
The King also called on all Jordanians to confront challenges that face the Kingdom and work with the one team spirit, noting that he has no fear of dealing with all challenges.

"Unless Jordanians feel political change this year, we will not benefit from the Arab Spring and political reforms that have been accomplished over the past period," he said.
Masri, on his part, said that the senate is agreed with the King to holding elections this year, after completing laws governing the political life in the Kingdom.
He added that the council is keen to accomplish these laws as fast as possible, but after thorough studies, noting that the Senate's Legal Committee has approved the Political Parties Law.
As for Elections Law, the senate president underlined the importance of the draft law to be subject to discussions and debates in order to meet the reform ambitions of Jordanians.
