Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Convoys mobilised by the UAE Red Crescent have started to spread across the Jordanian districts bordering Syria taking the relief assistance to the displaced Syrians who have fled their country in the wake of the escalations there.
Volunteers working for the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) are on ground in various Jordanian regions carrying out humanitarian work to alleviate the sufferings of Syrian refugees.
In the first phase of the relief work, the RCA distributed over six thousand parcels containing essential food items which will suffice for the next couple of months in the makeshift camps. Several Syrian families have benefitted from these supplies which also included ten thousand blankets, sanitary equipments and heating appliances.
The area witnesses bad weather conditions due to winter and snowfall.
The convoys had set out from Jordan’s capital Amman early this week. The initiative is part of the RCA’s intensified efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering of the Syrian regugees whose number was estimated by Jordanian authorities at 75,000 with the possibility of more to come within the next few days.
Amidst the increasing influx, the RCA is working with its Jordanian partners to
send in more assistance to meet the increasing requirements of the displaced persons.
