AMMONNEWS - Medical sources in Jordan revealed that a number of Libyan patients being treated in Jordan are reported to be carrying communicable diseases including AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, and Tuberculosis (TB).
A number of medical sources, all preferring to remain anonymous, told Ammon News that several private hospitals treating Libyan patients did not report the diseases to the Ministry of Health, in clear violation of the Health Ministry Laws.
The sources blasted tat the Ministry is not dealing with the cases of Libyan patients properly, laying the burden on private hospitals instead.
They stressed the need for the Ministry to carefully review the cases to be treated in the Kingdom's hospitals, and conduct the necessary testings to document all cases, particularly contagious and epidemic diseases.
A spokesperson of The Specialty Hospital (Al-Takhasussi) confirmed that its laps reported one case of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) for a Libyan patient, referred to it from Shemeisani Hospital.
The source added that the hospital did report the case to the Ministry of Health, and denied that the patient is being treated there.
On his part, Director of Shemeisani Hospital Dr. Awni Bashir confirmed in statements to Ammon News that an AIDS case was detected in the hospital, and stressed that the case was reported to the Ministry.
Bashir said that Libyan patients are screened for TB and Hepatitis diseases, and confirmed that several cases were detected.
The medical sources warned against the Ministry's attempt to undermine the cases and evading exposing them in media outlets.
The Ministry of Health did not respond to repeated inquiries by Ammon News regarding the reported cases.
