PM, U.S. State Department official discuss ties

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Awn Khasawneh on Sunday discussed with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman ways of cementing Jordanian-U.S. ties and Washington's aid to the Kingdom.

Khasawneh hailed the level of relations and emphasised the importance of U.S. aid for implementation of development plans and key projects in the Kingdom's vital sectors.

The prime minister briefed the top State Department official on major steps Jordan had taken to speed up political reform, stressing that an independent electoral commission will be a world-class body that applies best international monitoring standards. He called elections a key building block in the political reform process.

Feltman commended the level of relations and assured that U.S. aid to the Kingdom would continue.
