Riots in Northern Jordan after Man Found Dead in Police Station

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS – Riots erupted Wednesday evening in the northern city of Ramtha after police announced the death of a young man detained in a local police station.
The man was found died after he hanged him self in his prison, the Police report announced.
Relatives of the dead man rioted and set four governorate buildings and vehicles ablaze, eyewitnesses told Ammon News, after which police and Gendarmerie forces entered the city to contain the riots.
The police had detained Ahmad Azayzeh, 20 years old, while he was driving his own car and using it to transport passengers.
Authorities told his relatives that the man had a gun, but Azayzeh's uncle, Emad Zoubi, denied the claims in statements to Ammon News, noting that his nephew used his vehicle to transport passengers and had no need to carry a gun.
The Public Security Directorate (PSD) later announced that the man was found dead after he hanged himself with a rope he made from the bedsheet provided in the detention center.
Security authorities launched an investigation into the details of the incident and concluded that the detainee committed suicide after he was detained with three other individuals.
After the man was pronounced dead, rioters blocked the main Ramtha – Mafraq highway, burnt governorate buildings and set official vehicles on fire.
Security and Gendarmerie forces intensified their presence in the town to contain the riots throughout the city according to eye-witnesses, and used tear gas to disperse hundreds of rioters.
