AMMONNEWS - Thousands of activists on Friday marched in downtown Amman in a pro-reform demonstration organized by a coalition of reform movements under the banner " Tribes Friday"

The participants denounced what they described as “state-sponsored thuggery” that is perpetrated against pro-reforms protesters and activists by groups declaring themselves as "loyalists."

The demonstration launched from Al Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman following Friday midday prayer, with protestors marching towards Al Nakhil Square in Ras El Ain calling for genuine political reforms.

The protestors chanted slogans against the Jordanian parliament, blasting what they considered rampant and endemic corruption.

A large placard was raised, entitled "people want to reform the regime " , and raised large Jordanian flag, and Islamic movement’s flags.

Friday's protest witnessed the participation of the Islamic Front Action (IAF), leftists, youth groups and a number of pro-reform movements in coordination with demonstrations in other cities, in addition to leaders of prominent tribes includes Bani Hassan, Bani Hamida, and Bani Sakhir .

The demonstrators urged prime minister-designate Awn Khasawneh who was appointed last Thursday to implement tangible political changes as the international judge prepares to announce his reform-mandated.

"We want action, not words. The regime should change its policies," they chanted in one voice.

Jordan has faced protests Since January demanding economic and political reforms and an end to corruption.

The leader in (IAF), Zaki bani Irshaid who took part of the rally expressed to Ammon News his optimism over Prime Minister-Designate's keenness to open channels with all political forces.

He said that Khasawneh has the chance to lead Jordan to a new political era and better economical situation.

On the other hand, dozens of anti- protest staged a sit-in in front of the rally chanted slogans against the protesters .

lately the Prime Minister Designate Awn Khasawneh said that he welcomes the participation of Islamists in his government, stressing that he will keep channels open with opposition movements in an effort to reach consensus on various political reform platforms.
