Truck Drivers in Aqaba Port go on Strike

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS – Several truck drivers in Aqaba port went on strike Monday morning and obstructed the offload of cargo ships in protest of transportation price mechanism to and from Aqaba.

The protesters called for fair pricing lists and called for an open protest to force officials to take necessary measurements, the Spokesperson of the protesters Ali Tarawneh said.

He noted that the financial condition of truck drivers was better in 2006 than they are today, when there were clear regulations to organize truck routes and pricings.

They protesters called for separating offloading from transportation, and opening a coordination office in the port, and fix the agreed-upon salaries.
