The decision also included dissolving the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) council, headed by Amman Mayor Omar Maani. The cabinet announced forming temporary committees and appointing committee chairs for the kingdom's municipalities to administer local works until municipalities elections, slated for July of this year. Ammar Gharaibeh was appointed Chair of the temporary committee for GAM.

Cabinet Dissolves Municipalities Councils, GAM to Prepare for Local Elections

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Council of Ministers on Tuesday decided to dissolve municipalities councils in preparation for local elections in July 2011.

The decision also included dissolving the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) council, headed by Amman Mayor Omar Maani.

The cabinet announced forming temporary committees and appointing committee chairs for the kingdom's municipalities to administer local works until municipalities elections, slated for July of this year.

Ammar Gharaibeh was appointed Chair of the temporary committee for GAM.
