First H1N1 death confirmed

Ammon News - AMMAN--The first H1N1 (swine) flue death was announced by the Health Ministry on Wednesday.

The ministry said in its weekly report on the disease that the swine flu-related fatality is a 32-year-old man who was admitted to hospital three days ago and was in a critical condition. He was diagnosed with the disease and was given the necessary medication but he passed away today.

The report said that the total number of swine flu cases since the discovery of the first case last month stood at 7 including today's death case.

The ministry urged citizens to report to hospital as soon as they feel swine flu symptoms to be diagnosed during the early stages of the disease.

Symptoms of swine flu include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing. Some patients also report runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
